Maybe the love you think you wasted

rushed out and filled the spaces of the world,

like summer weekend rock & roll,

from a cherry Mustang with the windows down.

It turns the heads of strolling old couples

while their dogs bark flowerbed joys;

it feeds the peace of the tall trees

and calls the gold-hooped gumsmack girls

to sidewalk talk of boys.
