Crumpled Deer

by Christian Crumlish

rug in the roadway
impossibly crumpled
small pelt of
it must have been a
young deer
only two legs a pile
of matter painted
and tracked by
tires as if
a mound of sawdust
of horse manure
strangely green and ochre
no blood now
hours later
and over and past and gone
