A Found Poem?

Yes, Stimulants began life as an index entry in a wonderful book called On Drugs (University of Minnesota Press, 1995) by a professor of comparative literature at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst named David Lenson. The poem can be found in his book on pages 238 and 239.

The poem was discovered during a session of reading aloud and is best accompanied by loud chaotic music, such as Malcolm Humes' Cosmic Liberation Orchestra tape. The downloadable recordings (the .wav and AIFF versions are each different) available here at Enterzone are a compromise between an ideal reading and contemporary bandwidth limitatioms.
