Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band

The third version of Ringo Starr's "All-Starr Band" is making the rounds this summer. We note that the star power of the lineup has dwindled to the point where it prominently features Randy Bachman (of Bachman-Turner Overweight fame) and some people whose names we simply did not recognize, including a "Felix Cavaliere" and a "Mark Rivera." Stalwarts Billy Preston and John Entwistle will be there, though.

This is pretty pathetic, but we can't really bring ourselves to give Ringo too hard a time about it. We just like Ringo. We don't know why. It could be because, even if he does trot out "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden," nothing he does will ever be as irritating as Paul McCartney's faux Beatles revue and continual vegetarian dogmatizing. Besides which, we have a soft spot for both "Nothing from Nothing" and "Boris the Spider."
