Of Mice and Mammoths
The fossils of both were found on the northern
Channel Islands off the coast of Santa Barbara. The mammoth
fossils included the full-size Columbian mammoth -- common on the
North American continent during the Pleistocene -- and the pygmy
mammoth which dwelt exclusively on the islands off California's
coast.
