Welcome to Our Den

It seems like every couple of weeks (well, maybe, months), some other outfit tells us we've won an award. We're invited to visit their site, download a decal, and plaster it on our home page.

Are these things really awards? Our Webmaster heard some lame-o on the air recently bragging that his site had been named one of the top 5 on the Net by Point. Or, are they free advertisements for commercial organizations trying to build traffic and a reputation as the vetting service for the Web? You tell me.

It pains me to see Web sites with clever, careful designs marred by ugly logos and bowling trophies, so we've decided to stick ours in the rec room, where they belong.
